Banbury is known for the Banbury Cross, made famous in the nursery rhyme ‘Ride a Cock Horse’

“Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross,
To see a fine lady upon a white horse,
With rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
She shall have music wherever she goes.”

Where are we?

Banbury is a great place to be located within the centre of England and situated in the middle of the golden triangle. The points of this triangle being Oxford, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon. Banbury has the advantage of being close enough to all three towns to visit, but isolated enough to retain it’s own character and feel.
Students can visit the historic town of Stratford and bask in the glory and literacy of the home of William Shakespeare, they can also visit Warwick and it’s imposing medieval castle, or take a trip to Oxford to wander the grounds of one of the world’s oldest and best universities. Located in the area is also the Formula 1 track, Silverstone.
Active students can make use of the two well equipped sports centres in Banbury or spend time playing golf or cricket. In the local villages it is also possible to go horse riding. The small local shops and the shopping precinct offering famous British brands are an ideal place to go shopping in the afternoons. Afterwards students can have a meal in one of many restaurants in Banbury offering a selection of dishes from all over the world. Banbury also has a good train connection with London and the most important airports: London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Birmingham International.

"This is my second stay in Banbury. My first stay was two years ago. I joined a summer course in ELT last year and enjoyed it very much. That’s why I decided to come back to Banbury and this time I’m staying for a  year!"
